It looks like the end could be very near for Blackberry, as they recently announced some massive losses, which will lead to some huge cut backs, with thousands of people losing their jobs. Blackberry have announced that they will report a quarterly loss of a staggering $950m next week.

This means that the company are going to have to make some serious cut backs, with around 4,500 people set to lose their jobs. Blackberry was once the big brand with the unique selling point of BBM but has since been overtaken by the likes of Apple, Samsung and Google, leaving their future in jeopardy.
Blackberry CEO Thorsten Heins has stated, "We are implementing the difficult, but necessary operational changes announced today to address our position in a maturing and more competitive industry, and to drive the company toward profitability."

Alicia Keys was even brought on board
In a bid to try to turn things around, Blackberry even brought some star power to the brand, by bringing Alicia Keys on board to lead the Blackberry Scholars Program but, after only 500 or so women applied, the idea was deemed a flop, the latest in a long line for the company.
With so much competition around them and all of this negative publicity now piling up, it really does look like it could be the end for Blackberry.
